History

1959

After twelve years in the trade, Leslie opened his first gentlemen's clothing shop. His aim was to provide Windsorians with what they needed- ready-to-wear suits for work and sportswear for the weekend.

Ten years later, son David joined and took a leading role in the family business. The shift to more casual clothing continued and in the 80's and 90’s John Goodwin responded again to this changing market by introducing designer brands such as Cerruti, Armani and Corneliani.

Since 2000, sons Dan and Alex have guided the company building on the experience of three generations, establishing the company’s new tailoring service and developing it into what you see today.

Like it was fifty years ago, John Goodwin responded in 2020 again to a rapidly evolving market by reintroducing John Goodwin Ready-to-Wear. Brand new lightweight stretch cotton trousers, cotton & cashmere stretch jeans, lightweight flannel drawstring trousers, spring cotton jackets, gilet jackets, raincoats, as well as knitwear, shoes and socks are all available.
